This top quality replica is modeled on the Model 1917 U.S. Navy cutlass. This sword design was the last regulation pattern for the U.S. Navy, and was issued to naval personnel and ship armories until being declared obsolete in 1949. This well-crafted and extremely functional replica measures 29 5/8" overall, and features the traditional cutlass blade design. The 25" high carbon steel blade is blued to prevent rust damage. The hilt is crafted from carefully shaped hardwood painted brown and secured to the full tang by three heavy brass cutler’s rivets. The half basket guard is stamped out of heavy 18-gauge carbon steel and blued to match the blade. The authentically styled leather sheath offers brass and copper fittings.
